Turkish fried dough is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and a beloved breakfast favorite. It pairs perfectly with cheese, jam, or a cup of tea.
The Story
Turkish fried dough has been a breakfast staple across Anatolia for generations. Although it has different regional names, its fluffy texture and golden crust make it a timeless favorite.
Crispy outside, fluffy inside — nothing beats freshly fried Turkish dough.
Mix warm milk, water, yeast and sugar.
Let sit for 5 minutes.
Add flour, salt and oil, then knead into a soft dough.
Cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface.
Cut into circles using a glass or cutter.
Fry in hot oil until golden on both sides.
Drain on paper towels and serve warm.

For perfectly puffed fried dough, make sure the oil is hot enough and avoid rolling the dough too thin.
