The Story

Homemade lemonade has long been a favorite summer refreshment, offering a natural alternative to store-bought drinks. Made with fresh lemons and simple ingredients, it delivers a bright citrus flavor that's perfect for warm afternoons, outdoor gatherings, and relaxing family meals.

Fresh lemons, natural ingredients, and plenty of ice make the perfect homemade lemonade.

Instructions

8 Steps
  1. Finely zest the lemons, avoiding the white pith.

  2. Combine the lemon zest and sugar in a large bowl.

  3. Rub the sugar and zest together with your hands until fragrant.

  4. Squeeze the lemons and add the juice to the mixture.

  5. Pour in the cold water and stir until the sugar dissolves completely.

  6. Strain the lemonade through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.

  7. Add the ice-cold water and stir well.

  8. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices and serve well chilled over plenty of ice.

Hazel's Note

I always let my lemonade chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. It allows the fresh lemon flavor to fully develop and creates an even more refreshing drink. I love serving it with plenty of ice, fresh mint, and thin lemon slices for the perfect finishing touch.
